Project Suraksha - Safety Shelter

At Gyanastra, we provide a safe and loving environment to children without family support. With nutritious meals, education, and compassionate caretakers, these children are given the stability and care they need to grow with dignity and hope for the future.

Suraksha identifies children in labour, connects them to safe housing and enrolls them in education restoring childhood and opening doors to a better future.

Childhood should mean learning and play, not labour. Project Suraksha partners with communities and authorities to identify at‑risk children, secure safe housing and reintegrate them into school with academic and emotional support. Our team tracks each child’s progress and coordinates with caretakers so recovery is holistic—safety, nutrition, education and care under one protective roof.

Objectives:

What we do:

Outreach & identification with community volunteers, schools, labour department
Care plan & mentorship: assign a dedicated caretaker; weekly well being and academic check ins recorded in the Pragati app.
Family counselling & reunification (where appropriate) with livelihood linkages to reduce the risk of re entry into labour.

Impact:

Project Suraksha has rescued 12 children from vulnerable situations, providing them with safe shelter, education, and a nurturing environment. By removing them from the cycle of child labor and exploitation, the project is giving these children a second chance at life—one filled with learning, security, and hope for a brighter future.
